Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska Must Keep Cruise Ship Limit at 139.

Nov. 28--A long-standing dispute over how many cruise ships should be allowed to ply the whale-filled waters of Glacier Bay National Park is over, at least for now.

The National Park Service will maintain the status quo of 139 ships per summer season, officials said. That amounts to one or two ships a day from May to September in Glacier Bay, one of Alaska's prime attractions. Before making any decision to up the number to a potential 184, the agency will conduct a rigorous scientific review on how cruise ships affect the park's endangered humpback whales and other marine species, ...
