Richard Henderson has had his last Thanksgiving. At least he assumes it was. One son and family helped him celebrate at his new assisted-living apartment in Crystal, where he is under hospice care.

The cancer has worked its way into his spine and bone marrow.

But it's OK with Henderson, who's 83. He's ready. He knows in his soul that his wife of 57 years, Marjorie, will be waiting in heaven for him.

He was an avid gardener, and this summer he took more than 50 bouquets of fresh flowers to her gravesite. "I told her each time that she'd better be there with open arms for me," he said, smiling.
