As far as Chuck White, CEO of San Diego-based PSA Management, LLC, is concerned, the worst thing that can happen to a turnaround specialist like him is that the management of a falling company has done everything possible to save it.
"That's one of my fears going in, because that means there's nothing else we can do," White said. "But that's rarely the case."
And it wasn't the case when he was hired to run PSA Management, the firm that managed Pea Soup Properties Ltd., a chain that included four Pea Soup Andersen's restaurants. That was in 1986, a year after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
