Dec. 2--Delaware River Port Authority officials say they have narrowed an estimated budget hole to $12 million, which may allow them to save a $14-a-month discount for frequent commuters who use E-ZPass to cross the agency's four bridges.
The budget gap was estimated at $15 million last month, but proposed cuts in operating costs -- including possible layoffs -- could help close it, officials said last night as they held the first of four public hearings on eliminating E-ZPass discounts.
