LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Music legend Ray Charles, who, for the first time in 53 years, cancelled the second half of his 2003 tour in July, has undergone surgery on his left hip, it was announced today.

"I feel terrific and am so thankful to the good Lord that all is going well for me," he said.

"I can't wait to get back on the road, which is my second home. I want to thank the folks in person for all their prayers and good wishes."

The 13-time Grammy(R) winner expects to return to his beloved musical stage and touring in March, 2004.
