Dec. 2--Gov. Bill Richardson said Monday the state is moving ahead with a $15 million investment in a company that has been negotiating to purchase the Philips Semiconductor plant in Albuquerque.
The State Investment Council investment in Mesa Semiconductor, originally approved this summer, had been on hold pending a written agreement that would allow Mesa to purchase the plant.
Philips announced about a year ago that it was closing its local computer chip plant and moving production and about 600 jobs to East Fishkill, N.Y.
