Japanese trends in space-saving and servo-drives
JAPAN is the source of much innovative injection moulding technology which often seems never to find its way to the West. However, reports from the latest Japanplas exhibition identified a couple of trends which do have parallels among Western machine manufacturers -- increasing compactness and greater use of servo-drive electric motors.
Several Japanese companies have introduced space saving machines, with execution, as one may imagine, on the larger clamp sizes, and apparently all adopting the overhung clamp unit principle with the locking cylinders on the injection side of the fixed platen. The claims for ...
