Apollo Diamonds, a U.S-based company has reported cutting gemstones from synthetic diamond crystals, which were grown to a thickness of two millimeters using Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). The information was released by Robert Linares, the company's chairman, at the Intertech 2003 International Conference in Vancouver, Canada.

Apollo Diamond plans to have a limited amount of cut CVD diamonds in the marketplace by the fourth quarter of this year.

Apollo Diamond, which is based in Massachusetts, is cooperating with the jewelry industry to ensure detection and proper disclosure.
