The Uruguayan government is starting a road show in Europe and the US to attract potential investors for the tender of 1,100 Km of railways scheduled for 2004. Plans are to pass the railways, currently managed by AFE (Administracion de Ferrocarriles del Estado), under concession for over 20 years to a private company that should invest US$56mil over the first four years, while it should receive a US$5mil subsidiary during the concession contract.
