HANOI - The Philippines finally hit the bull's-eye in archery to win its first gold medal in the 22nd Southeast Asian Games.
It was a breakthrough expected to be followed late Friday by the crack pair of Warren Kiamco and Lee Van Corteza who advanced into the finals against Indonesia in the 9-ball pool doubles in billiards.
The Filipinos are making big strides in rowing, advancing into the finals of eight of nine events after two days, promising a big harvest on Day 2. The same was true in chess where they sent representatives to the semifinals of the individual rapid play.
