There's something about a sick or injured animal that people just can't ignore.
So when word got out in August that the Round Lake Park/Hainesville Police Department couldn't afford to pay for surgery to correct the debilitating spinal problem in its K-9, Top Dog, it wasn't long before help was on the way.
Thanks to a Mundelein company and several individuals, Top Dog is healthy again and back on active duty with the department.
Cmdr. Dan Burch, Top Dog's handler, said it feels good to have his partner back at work.
