With an eye toward job creation, state Sen. Alberta Darling said a task force should be formed to forge a new kind of partnership between the Legislature and the University of Wisconsin System.
Darling, who co-chairs the Legislature's powerful Joint Finance Committee, made her pitch Thursday during a broad discussion with Regents and System staff about what the university does right and wrong and how the state and university can help each other solve problems.
"Our goal is economic development right now," said Darling, R-River Falls. "We really need you as a partner."
