Design guru Chris Casson Madden is guided by her gut.
More than 30 years ago, her gut told her just three credits shy of a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology to leave school for a job as a "Gal Friday" in the photo department of Sports Illustrated. (And, no, she never graduated and doesn't hold any design degree.)
And long before Sept. 11 made us re-evaluate our surroundings, Madden's gut guided her in the early 1990s to look at our homes as our personal sanctuaries.
