ON SERVING THE MEETINGS INDUSTRY
"We are seeing shorter booking windows. Even large groups are sometimes booking within weeks. The industry is also being impacted by more scrutiny on meeting expenses and return on investment. Technology, such as wi-fi and in-room high-speed Internet access, has moved from amenity to necessity. Enhanced amenities are definitely a trend that will be with the industry for a white, reflecting the highly competitive marketplace. When it comes to size, the trend is actually moving away from giant hotels. While these properties tend to garner attention, most new ones were in development before the economy slowed."
