POLITICS, on the surface at least, appears to be winding down for a few weeks. But there are stirrings, folks.

The real significance of the election results is slowly seeping into the fabric of political discourse, and the pros are already asking a lot of the ''what if'' questions which will dominate January's Review process.

Understandably, the Ulster Unionists are muttering speculatively about what might happen the first time the Government goes ahead with one or more bits of the Joint Declaration.
