The Chesapeake Bay deadrise workboat evolved over years of trial and error by boatbuilders and bay watermen who desired a versatile but stable working platform for the bay's different fisheries.
For sometime now, the bay's workboats have captured the attention of fishermen outside the region. In the most recent example of this recognition, Glass Boat Works of Exmore, Va., launched a 44-foot fiberglass deadrise boat, the 34-Dee, in August, for Reggie Bishop of Belhaven, N.C.
