Chris Casson Madden invited her well-heeled audience to kick off their shoes if they felt so inclined Wednesday evening.
Relaxation, she told them, is what it's all about these days.
And Madden should know. She built a book, TV and merchandising empire around the notion of home-as-sanctuary.
"Life is so frantic, so fast-paced, especially now during the holiday season," said Madden, the third speaker in the Rosamond Gifford Lecture Series.
The best place to flee that frenetic end-of-year rush is home - with all its attendant comforts. "Home as haven has definitely been my mantra," she said. ...
