Dec. 12--Times are a little better at Hedstrom Lumber Co. in Grand Marais. The flow of red ink has slowed and the company nearly broke even last fiscal year.
And if the current proposal for an agreement on importing softwood lumber from Canada to the United States is accepted by that nation, the market is likely to stabilize.
That would help Hedstrom as well as Deer River-based Rajala Cos., Potlatch operations in Grand Rapids, Bemidji and Cook and other area wood products companies regain their equilibrium after years of terrible conditions that put some ...
