Uefa have given unconditional backing to the Premier League following the controversy surrounding the new Sky television deal.

The three-year agreement which starts next year is worth pounds 1 billion --but European Commission trade commissioner Mario Monti claims that contracts of one season 'are generally acceptable', adding that all clubs should be allowed to do their own deal.
