As wonderful, heartfelt and well-deserved as these glowing eulogies are, the bipartisan affection and admiration for Paul Simon almost seem misplaced.
That's because they are all about Paul Simon. As long as he was alive, Paul Simon's political career was never about Paul Simon. It was about us.
No matter what office he held or how much power he wielded, Paul Simon was, quite simply, our faithful public servant. He worked for us.
