PROFESSOR Jack Lohman, nattily besuited, strides to meet me across the modern agora of the Museum of London's new foyer, designed by double Stirling Prize-winning architect Wilkinson Eyre. It's big, it's virtually empty and it is more than somewhat corporate. Lohman has plans for that. He wants to soften it. He wants chairs, tables, people sitting around chatting. He wants neon signs, maybe some items from the museum's huge collection on display. This is characteristic of Lohman's critical attitude towards his own building. He sees the newest addition as being as ripe for change as the oldest exhibition display, some of which go back to the museum's opening in 1976.
