ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Mariners have moved to the top of the pack in batting average in the American League.
An average of almost 13 hits per game during the first eight games of the current road trip has raised the team average to .281, an improvement of 12 points.
But batting average isn't the most significant offensive stat in baseball. That would be runs scored. And the Mariners, with 235 runs coming into Monday, are firmly in the middle of the pack.
But there is some good news in that department.
