Washington, D.C. -- Ten years ago, Dave Anderson helped build a small bingo hall on the Mille Lacs Reservation into Grand Casinos Inc., one of the dominant Indian gambling companies in the nation.
But he didn't become famous until he founded the barbecue chain that bears his name, spent millions on Indian philanthropy and made an appearance on Oprah, where he talked about his past struggles with alcoholism.
On Tuesday, "Famous" Dave Anderson was confirmed by the Senate to head the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA).
