Dec. 15--An arbitration hearing is scheduled for May, 2004 in a complex contract dispute between Agrium Inc. and Unocal Corp. over supply of natural gas by Unocal to Agrium's ammonia and urea fertilizer plant at Nikiski, near Kenai.
The two companies have sued each other over the contract. Both cases are now in a California superior court in Los Angeles.
Agrium said Dec. 2 that unless a sufficient supply of natural gas can be secured, the company's manufacturing complex could cease operations at the end of 2005.
