Houston May Pay $500,000 to Promote Super Bowl.

Dec. 17--The city's Convention and Entertainment Department will ask the City Council today to spend $500,000 on 50 Super Bowl tickets, game-related advertising and improvements such as landscaping.

The money would buy a sponsorship with the Houston Super Bowl XXXVIII Host Committee, which would give the city 50 tickets.

City officials hope to lure more business to the George R. Brown Convention Center by giving the hard-to-get tickets to representatives of sought-after conventions, said Steve Lewis, deputy director of the convention department.
