Pragmatic Naturalism and Realism is primarily the anthology of a conference held in 2000 to honor Peter Hare, Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the Slate University of New York at Buffalo. The book contains fourteen essays that deal with a variety of questions related to the state of contemporary pragmatism, in particular its place on the philosophical spectrum from idealism to realism. The purpose of the book is to "tackle the problems of realism in the context of pragmatic naturalism" (p. 9).
