COLUMBUS, Ohio (FNS) -- The Limited, Inc., squeaked out a small second-quarter earnings gain as new businesses -- including the Structure men's division -- helped offset disappointing results at the mainstay Limited women's division and the Victoria's Secret catalog.
The stock dropped 7/8 to 29 3/4 in heavy trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
Profits in the three months ended Aug. 3 inches up to $79,225,000, or 22 cents a share, from $79,025,000, or 22 cents, in the year-ago period. Sales were up 19.1 percent to $1,375,185,000 from $1,154,562,000. Gross margins slipped to 28.3 percent of sales from 30.5 percent.
