Article: Carnival's Mexico Cruises to Operate in San Diego.

Dec. 19--Carnival Cruise Lines said yesterday that it will operate 22 eight-day Mexican cruises from San Diego beginning next fall.

The announcement was a shot in the arm for the burgeoning San Diego cruise industry, which will expand from 127 cruises this year to more than 200 next year.

"This really puts us on the map for cruising," said Rita Vandergaw, marketing director of the Port of San Diego. "It adds a lower-cost cruising option to what we can offer."
