The Brazilian mobile telephone operator Claro decided to discourage the use of WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) among the Internet users. The decision was taken after the company made a research with focus group in Sao Paulo, Campinas (Sao Paulo state), Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul) and Rio de Janeiro. The goal was to discover why only 10% of the people that had computers prepared to access the Internet used this service.
