Dear Sandra: We are planning a cruise to Alaska on the Inside Passage. Can you suggest some points of interest along the way. Also my husband would like to hunt a few days with an outfitter. - J.P., Syracuse

Dear J.P.: The Inside Passage runs north from the Canadian Border to the Gulf of Alaska. The scenery is spectacular: mountains, fjords, glaciers and attractive communities that bear the influence of the Russian colonization and/or the days of the great Gold Rush.

The main attraction is the glaciers. When the ice crashes into the sea it makes a loud cracking sound that echoes for miles.
