ASHEBORO -- The Asheboro City Schools system is adjusting to another increase this year in students with limited English-speaking skills.
As of Oct. 1, the number of students enrolled in English as a Second Language classes increased to 838 from 748 last year, according to a report that the system released earlier this month.
That's a 12 percent increase in students with limited English proficiency. Their numbers have grown 67 percent since the 1999-2000 academic year, up from 500.
