NEW DELHI, India -- Despite the searing 105-degree temperatures on May 11, the wedding festivities were in full swing.
Musicians played as the 2,000 guests strolled about the sprawling lawn. Under a golden canopy sat two thronelike chairs covered in luxurious red-and-silver fabric. A Hindu priest lit the ceremonial fire where the couple would say their vows. In moments, the young bride, 21-year-old Nisha Sharma, would arrive dressed in her shimmering red sari, her hands and feet intricately decorated with henna designs.
