Natchez Trace, Old Agency projects taking longer than expected: Jackson bypass should be complete by end of 2004; Stack III project progressing smoothly.(Mississippi Business Journal)

For too long, travelers heading south on the Natchez Trace Parkway have been required to exit from Interstate 55 and travel via Interstate 20 to the west side of Clinton to reenter the national parkway. When the much-anticipated Jackson Bypass project is complete next year, travelers will have a straight track through the metropolitan area.

Fred Atnip, park engineer for the Natchez Trace Parkway, said the roadbed for the 15-mile segment linking the Natchez Trace from Ridgeland to Clinton was essentially complete.
