NEW YORK, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Legacy Foundation surveyed smokers this week in New York City about their addiction to cigarettes and their intentions to quit. The survey found that the majority of the city's smokers (71 percent) would like to stop smoking, and 40 percent plan on making quitting smoking one of their New Year's resolutions.
The foundation conducted the survey in order to take the pulse on one of New York City's biggest public health problems.
