Katie G. Cannon, a professor of Christian ethics at Union Theological Seminary in New York and an ordained Presbyterian minister, was honoured on Nov. 22 by the Black Religious Scholars Group (BRSG) at their meeting in Toronto.
Named the 2002 Distinguished Religious Scholar, Cannon took part in a service at the Grant African Methodist Episcopal Church on Gerrard Street. The chair of the evening was well-known Catholic theologian, M. Shawn Copeland of Boston College.
