Thomas James Casey of Tewksbury, a Korean War veteran and longtime employee of the Tewksbury Water Department, died yesterday at his home after a seven-month battle with cancer. He was 74.
Born in Charlestown, Mr. Casey was a graduate of Somerville High School. He moved to Tewksbury in 1954.
He served in the Army during the Korean War, receiving many decorations including two Purple Hearts for combat injuries.
Upon his discharge from the Army, Mr. Casey began a career as a professional underwater diver. He also worked as a rigger aboard the USS Constitution. He retired from the Boston Navy Ship Yard, holding a rare certification for extreme deep ...
