A Dane County committee must reconsider its approval of a controversial town of Verona gravel pit because one of the committee's members showed bias toward the gravel pit's developer, a state appeals court ruled Tuesday.
The 4th District Court of Appeals said former County Board member Carlton Hamre, then a member of the board's Zoning and Natural Resources Committee, showed bias when he co-signed an endorsement letter for Payne & Dolan, the gravel pit's developer. The company included the letter in its permit application.
