Dec. 25--For years, Bill Grant's days have begun with doughnuts and danishes, then cakes, then breads, then back to doughnuts and danishes.
While the rest of Macon sleeps, he has made Grant's Pastry Shop at the corner of Poplar and Second streets the breakfast table for hundreds.
The corner bakery opened more than 65 years ago, when downtown Macon bustled and a 10-year-old Grant swept its floors and greased baking pans in the kitchen for $7 a week.
