Josh Arsenaux was not the type of student who slipped through the cracks at Project Hope. People noticed him, even if the foster child wished they wouldn't.
By the time Arsenaux started attending the alternative high school program in Bothell three years ago, the former dropout had lived in several foster homes and with his grandmother.
At Project Hope, he walked through the back door so he wouldn't have to talk to anyone. He'd sit alone with his hood pulled over his head.
"He was kind of defiant. Not necessarily aggressive, but like, 'I don't want to join your silly groups. I can learn better that way. I don't need you,'" ...
