I'm not a great one for summing up the year we've just been through. Such an assessment is too like a headmaster's report and I rarely got pleasure from any of the ones delivered about me.
However, I do want to air my thoughts on the most senior members of the House of Windsor now we're about to plunge into 2004. No matter what many think, it's still the First Family, thank goodness. Imagine, if you will, the alternative.
