COLUMBUS -- Terry Anderson, a former Associated Press correspondent who was held hostage in Lebanon for nearly seven years, said Friday he will run for the Ohio Senate next year.
Anderson, a 56-year-old Democrat, will seek the seat held by Republican Jim Carnes, who is leaving for a job with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Anderson said he is running to provide a voice for the people of southeastern Ohio, where he has lived for the past 5 1/2 years.
"I don't think the people up there (in Columbus) or in Washington care about our people. I do," Anderson said.
