By Kim Deok-hyunSEOUL, Dec. 29 (Yonhap) -- Third-generation (3G) cellular phones that use a European standard have finally arrived Monday in South Korea, but the technology remains out of reach for most because of a lack of handsets. SK Telecom Co. and KTF Co. released the long-awaited 3G service, based on Europe-backed wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) standard, with no more than 800 handsets. Theoretically, the 3G mobile phone services allow speedy access to data and video over the Internet. However, users of the much-vaunted technology are now getting a reality check.
