Bryan Wilbur says the first tip that he had hired the wrong man to replace the roof on his Syracuse home came when the contractor took weeks to finish the job, instead of the few days he thought it would take.
"He was on the job a couple of days, then he would not come back for a week or two," said Wilbur, who lives on Baldwin Avenue. "Then he'd come back."
Wilbur paid the contractor half of the $3,700 cost of the job as a down payment. But after the work was finally completed, Wilbur said, he refused to pay the balance - $1,850 - because he was worried about the quality of the work the contractor and his ...
