PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local COMPANHIA DE AGUA E ESGOTO DE CEARA (CAGECE) is currently gearing-up to implement a large-scale waterworks development program. The proposed scheme includes improving the water quality along the beaches and in the rivers crossing the state capital, Fortaleza. The upgrade plan calls for expanding by 2008: - Wastewater collection and treatment to 70% of the population
from the current 52%; - Drinking water coverage from the present 75% up to 80%; - Sanitation service from 13% to 35%,
