For cosmologists - those astronomers and physicists who study the origin, evolution and contents of the universe - this is a magical moment.
In the past decade, we have come to realize most of the universe is made of a mysterious entity we call "dark energy."
We don't know what it is or how it will affect the universe in the future, but understanding dark energy is certain to have profound effects on our understanding of the fundamental laws of nature. It is a moment akin to when Sir Isaac Newton explained how the planets move with his theory of gravity, or to the revolution in modern physics a century ago.
