Jan. 1--Directory assistance provider INFONXX closed its call center in Riverside on Wednesday, putting 450 people out of work.
The Bethlehem, Pa.-based firm cited rising workers compensation rates, taxes, the cost of living and health care coverage, for its decision.
"The cost of doing business in California was far higher than for any of our other locations," said corporate spokesman Paul Ciotta by phone, adding that the center's lease in the Hunter Park area of Riverside was coming to an end anyway.
