New Delhi, Dec 31 (PTI) With non-BJP parties like Samajwadi Party and CPI (M) ruling out coming together on a single platform against the saffron party, Congress on Wednesday said that a "grand" pre-poll alliance may not be "necessary" and it would adopt a "flexible approach" on the issue.
As the political scene hotted up in anticipation of early general elections, Congress President Sonia Gandhi stepped up her efforts to put together an anti-BJP formation. Parallely, Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav today met CPI (M) veteran Harkishan Singh Surjeet and made it clear that his party would not join any front.
