LOS ANGELES _ A French children's author is fighting for his fish.
The 33-year-old Franck Le Calvez has sued Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios over "Finding Nemo," claiming it was plagiarized from his own fish story, "Pierrot Le Poisson Clown," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Le Calvez says that he first registered his orange fish character in 1995 as a trademark with France's industrial protection and copyrights body. Later, when French film studios rejected poor Pierrot, the author decided to make the fish the hero of an illustrated children's book.
