Jan. 2--Jim Doyle toted a blue-and-white umbrella to ward off the rain at Sumner Meadows Golf Links, a place so conveniently located he can get in nine holes before dark.
"It's our winter course," he said recently. "For us, when we get more daylight in the summer, we go further out."
Doyle isn't thrilled about city talk of selling the course to home or industrial developers who would bulldoze it.
"I think it's a shame to be so shortsighted," he said.
