Jan. 1--Electronics were one of the hottest selling items this holiday season, but what will you do with that old television or slow computer?
The state of California wants to make sure you discard it properly. That means you shouldn't throw it in the trash can, and for goodness sake, don't leave it on the side of the road after dark.
Consumers now pay by the carload to dump obsolete electronics at recycling yards in Sacramento County, but a new state law setting up the nation's first electronic waste recycling program will take effect in July.
